Country Service For Teachers
Sir,—l read with much pleasure the comments by Mr H. C. Dvison. In this day and age you get what you pay for; unfortunately the country child is not getting what his parents are paying for in the way of education. The country parent has for many years been very tolerant ot the difficulties of supplying education for hia children on a par with that available to town children. If the country child cannot go to the teacher for his education then the teacher must go to the child. To say that teachers are unobtainable is so much eye-wash. It has been stated recently that teachers would sooner leave the service temporarily than serve in the country. If cold hard cash is the carrot for the donkey, then let's not waste more of our children's time and our country's educational potential.—Yours, etc.. WHATAROA PARENT May 30, 1063.
