C.W.I. CHOIR FESTIVAL

The annual choral festival of the North Canterbury Federation of Country Women’s Institutes was held at Waipara recently.

Entries were fewer than usual, but the judge, Mr L. Peach, of the Adult Education Department, said he was very pleased with the singing of the three choirs which took part Each choir bad to sing three pieces, one of them a set piece. The winning choir was from the Hawarden C.W.I M led by Mrs E. Wright It scored 106 points. The Peaks-Med-bury C.W.I. was second with 94 points, and the Rangiona C.W.I. third with 93.

During the evening, the Kaiapoi and Cheviot C.W.l.’s put on a selection of short plays.
