“HEARTLESS FRAUDS"
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 31. A married couple gained the confidence of an old man for whom they did odd job* and committed a series of heartless frauds on him, Mr F. McCarthy. S.M.. said in the Magistrate's Court at Auckland today. He sent John George Wotherspoon, a 46-year-old painter, to prison for 12 months afier he had pleaded guilty to four charges of forgery, three of uttering, three of false pretences, and one of attempted false pretences.
Margaret Dawn WoUierspoon, aged 30, a housewife, was put on probation for three years and ordered to make restitution of £B4.
She admitted nine charges of forgery, seven of uttering. seven of false pretences, two of attempted false pretences, and one of theft.
