N.Z.’s Biggest Display
Six hundred and thirty-six pigeons were entered in the New Zealand Homing Pigeon Federation’s annual championship, which opened yesterday in the Fanciers' Hall. Selwvn street.
Six pigeons from Australia were In the show, which is the largest ever held In New Zealand. Most of the birds are from local clubs, but other clubs in the South Island have entered 120 birds. Entries from the North Island totalled 182 The judges, Mr L Mcßae, of Oamaru, and Mr A. Lucas, ol Mosgiel, were both impressed by the organisation of the show and they said they considered the winning birds of both classes to be of top quality Judging was difficult in both the homer and the flown sections. as the birds were mainly exhibited by top-grade fanciers throughout the country, they said The competition was keen.
