SNELL'S GREAT WIN IN THE UNITED STATES.-P. G. Snell winning the open mile race at Modesto, California, last Saturday, in 3min 54.9sec. This is half a second outside his own world record and the fastest mile ever run in the United States. Snell beat a world-class field by a margin of 15 yards. In his wake came C. Weisiger, J. Beatty, and J. Grelle, all of whom returned times of less than four minutes.
