Week-end deaths were the scourge of roads at any time the Minis'er of Transport (Mr McAlpine) said today, commenting upon the motoring hazards of Queen’s Birthday week-end “Long week-ends are always a great worry to traffic i authorities charged with pre- ' venting road accidents." he said. Mr McAlpine said six persons died and 221 were injured—many of them seriously—in road accidents last Queen's Birthday week-end. Saturday and Monday accounted for more than two-thirds of this toll.
