CONTRASTING DISPLAYS • Craddock, Pin Money

"The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. May 30

Training displays of the greatest contrast were put on this morning by Craddock and Pin Mopey, the best Takanini chances for Saturday’s big double at Ellerslie. While Craddock furthered his Cornwall Handicap preparation with a rousing mile, the Great Northern Hurdles candidate. Pin Money, went so poorly over four fences as to look like a beginner Shakespeare. Selalah, Action Parked, and Overdale, along with Craddock, did pleasing work in preparation for the first day of the Auckland winter meeting. Jovic, another Cornwall Handicap acceptor, was more in the company of Pin| Money, Craddock beating him easily. The going on the inside of the No. 3 grass was heavy j

Craddock (Worrall) was too good for Jovic (Medcalfe) which he led by 10 lengths or so to the finish of a mile in Imm 46sec Craddock drew clear over the last five furlongs and was timed to go the last six in Im in 19 2-ssec.

The slushy ground was right to the liking ot Craddock. which promises to make a bold bid for Saturday’s big race. He will be in his element now that the spell of fine weather has really broken.

Action Packed (Hughes) ran a mile in Imin 48 1-ssec to beter Pale Face (Medcalfe) by three lengths. On the bend into the straight Pale Face dropped a long way behind, and toward the finish he began to make ground again promisingly. Action Packed was taken wide and, like Pale Face, he finished with a bit in hand. He is another of the Cornwall Handicap horses attracting dote interest.
