Vital Statistics For Quarter
Fewer births and marriages, but more deaths were registered in New Zealand during the first quarter of this year, compared with the same quarter in 1962. the deputy Government Statisticiah stated. The 16.683 live births were 36 fewer than last year, the 4800 marriages were 45 less and the 4800 deaths were 42 more than the same quarter last year. There were 193 still births compared with 224 in the 1962 quarter. Deaths of infants less than one year old totalled 294 for this quarter, which was 61 fewer than was recorded in the same period the previous year.
