(N .A.-Reuter—Copyright)
LAUSANNE, May 29 The Greek millionaire shipowner, Stavros Livanos, died in Lausanne’s Cantonal Hospital yesterday, aged 72. after a heart attack.
Mr Livanos began his career between Greece and Turkey in a boat he shared with three brothers. He became one of the richest men in the world.
A man who shunned publicity, he only came to public notice when his daughters became news. Mr Livanos was one of Greece’s three big shipping magnates. ■ the other two being Mr Aristotle Onassis and Mr - Stavros Niarcho*, who married his two daughters, Tina and Eugenia. Tina divorced Mr Onassis three years ago and later married the Marquis of Blandford.
Sources estimate the pre-' sent Livanos fleet at about 86 freighters and tankers. Most of the ships fly Liberian or Panamanian flags of convenience.
