Party Presses For Abolition
Land tax should be abolished at an appropriate time, the annual meeting of the Canterbury-Westland division of the National Party agreed unanimously yesterday. Mr D. M. Bruce (Ashburton) said the 50 per cent, reduction last year was appreciated, but the remit for abolition was a reminder to the Government.
In many cases there had bden revaluation and the effect had been to absorb the benefit of the 50 per cent, reduction, said a Rangiora delegate. The Minister of Finance <Mr Lake): Could I tell you that the Government is reminded.
