“Face Drawn, Eyes Bright”
(N.Z.P.Ai-Reuter —Copyright) VATICAN CITY, May 29. The Rome newspapet “Il Messaggero” today carried what it said was the only eye-witness report on the Pope’s condition, from an unnamed prelate who saw him on Monday, British United Press reported. •He was “extremely pale, diaphanous, as if only a few drops of blood were left in his veins,” the newspaper quoted the prelate as saying. “In his face, lined by suffering and cast in a bitter grimace, tired and drawn, the bright and lively eyes provide a striking contrast.”
