Alcoholism
Sir, —Your leading article tells how very serious is this problem of alcoholism, and wisely urges all possible research. I read of a woman who still goes to parties, and when liquor is offered, she answers, "No thanks. I’m a cured alcoholic.” No-one should ever urge liquor on such a person. For the “cured” alcoholic, to take alcohol again is to become its slave again.—Yours, etc., CLARION CALL. May 28, 1963.
Paunchy Pilots.—A slimming drive has been started against over-weight pilots on British airlines in an effort to cut the risk of their having heart attacks while airborne, according to the Aviation Ministry Some pilots have already been grounded until they have slimmed London, May 27.
