Awards Sought For Labourers
Three new awards were being sought for certain labourers in Canterbury. said the president of the Canterbury General and Builders’ Labourers’ Union, Mr G. Brady, yesterday. Two new Dominion awards were also being sought. In each case i the union would press for 1 substantial wage increases. , Wage increases, he said, I were being sought in Canterbury for pottery workers, local bodies (borough coun- ’ cils> workers and for CanI terbury golf and tennis clubs’ greenkeepers. Dominion j a wards being sough t were for I limeworkers and county council workers. Mr Brady said the Dominion award hearings would be before a conciliation commissioner in Wellington. Hearings for the Canterbury awards were dependent on dates being set by the Conciliation Commissioner. Mr S. W Armstrong.
