Cricket DEPUTATION FROM CLUBS
CCA. Agrees To Meeting
Representatives of the Manet and the Technical Old Boys' Cricket Clubs will be recevn-d at the next meeting of the Canterbury Cricket Association. This was decided on a motion by Mr A. R. Mac Gibbon at last night’s meeting of the association. Three delegates from each club win be invited and two from each club will speak at the meeting. The two dubs held a meeting last, month, at which tt was decided to ask the association to clarify its position towards junior clubs. Technical won the second grade competition this year, and played a match against the bottom senior teain. Lancaster Park. But no indication was given by the association whether it would be allowed to win its way into the senior grade. It is understood that both dubs wish to know whether they will be given an oppor-’ tunity to gain senior status and if the association is prepared to assist junto- dubs. The chairman, Mr J. T. Eltoft. said that it was better for the delegates to meet the management committee than a subcommittee. AU members would then be able to have a say. Primary Tournament The South Island primary schools’ cricket tournament wiU be held in Christchurch next gear. The tentative dates are etween January 30 and 30. It was noted that grounds would be the main problem. To get six wickets in a dose proximity to each other would be very difficult. On the motion of Mr Saunders, this was tentatively approved until the matter could be discussed more fully at the next meeting. Brabin Tournament The Brabin Shield tournament dates have been tentatively set down as December 30 until January 4. It was pointed out that these dates conflict with the Plunket Shield match . between Canterbury and Northern Districts. Mr Mac Gibbon said that if' tiie tournament was held later it would conflict with club matches. The dates were then recommended.
