YOUTH FAIR TO BE HELD
Two-Day Attraction In City
A youth fair, organised by the Christchurch Maori Community Progress Committee, will be held in the old Midland bus ' depot, Lichfield street, next Saturday and Monday. About 200 young people are expected to take part in the fair, which will be open to the public on both days.
The fair will be opened on Saturday morning by the Deputy-Mayor Cr. H. P. Smith). He will be given a Maori welcome, Saturday’s programme will include items by the Y.M.C.A., the Y.W.C.A., Teachers’ College students, the Girl Guides’ Association, and the St John’s Church Maori Club.
Stalls at the fair will be manned by representatives of the police, armed services, surfing clubs, girl guides, Youth Hostels’ Association, Boys’ Brigade and scout groups. The Canterbury Aero Club will have an aircraft at the fair. The purpose of the fair is to demonstrate and advertise the activities of youth in Christchurch.
