NEW ESCALATOR FOR CHRISTCHURCH.—Mr H. Maclean (left) and Mr H. M. Wakefield plumbing the working angles of the escalator truss during installation work at the D.I.C. yesterday. The escalator will be 46ft long, with a vertical rise of 18ft, and have a capacity of 6500 persons an hour. It should be ready for use early in September.
