ROME, May 13. The Australian player. Martin Mulligan, and Boro Jovanovic (Jugoslavia) had straight-set wins yesterday to enter the men’s singles semifinals at the Italian tennis championships. In their quarter-finals, Mulligan beat the Brazilian. Ronald Barnes, 11-9, 6-3, 6-3; and Jovanovic defeated the Italian, Nicola Pietrangeli, 6-4, 6-3. 6-4. Jovanovic will now meet the Australian top-seed, Roy Emerson, and Mulligan will play Nicola Pilic, of Jugoslavia, in the semi-finals. Thus, there is a chance of an all-Australian or an allJugoslav final.

The Australian pair, Margaret Smith and Robyn Ebbern, will play the Italians Lea Pericoli and Sylvana Lazzarino in the women’s doubles final.

Piloc (Jugoslavia). 2-6. 3-6 11-9 (bad light stopped play); R. Emerson (Australia) and E. Soriano (Brazil) were leading R. Barnes and C. Fernandez (Brazil), 6-1, 8-6 when bad light stopped Play. Women's Doubles.—Semifinals: L. Pericoli and S. Lazzarino (Italy) beat L. Turner and J. Lehane (Australia), 6-2, 6-0; M. Smith and R. Ebbern (Australia) beat R. Schurrmann (South Africa) and A. HaydonJones (Britain, 6-3. 6-4. Mixed Doubles. Second round: J. Lehane and R. Hewitt (Australia) beat A. HaydonJones and A. Pickard (Britain). 6-3, 6-3. Quarter-finals: N. Baylon and E.
