Ampol Refinery Site Chosen The terminal at the proposed pipeline from Queensland’s Moonie oilfield to Brisbane has been changed to a site adjacent to the refinery to be built by Ampol Petroleum, Ltd.
The original proposal had been to end the pipeline at Bulwer Island, the site of a refinery to be built by rival Amoco Australia Pty., Ltd. The pipeline would now terminate at Lytton- on the southern side of the mouth of the Brisbane river, the resident manager of Union Oil Development Corporation, Mr Doyle T. Graves, said. Oil From Moonie Oil company executives said that the choice of the site indicated that Ampol would probably refine all the Moonie oil. according to a Sydney report. Mr Graves said the facilities would be built on a 25-acre block that Moonie Pipeline Company. Pty.. Ltd., would buy from Ampol Refineries, Ltd., ' which recently bought the property from the Commonwealth., Mr Graves said 7000 to 10,000 barrels of oil a day could be piped to Brisbane from the Moonie field when the pipeline started operating in February.
