KILLINGS REACH MILLION MARK
Pareora Works’ Good Record (N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU, May 9. The Canterbury Frozen Meat Company’s works at Pareora notched its onemillionth kail for the season yesterday. The company has now passed this coveted mark three times in its history—in 1958-59, when the total killings were 1,035.000 and 1961-62. when the tally stood at 1,067.000. “I understand that some of the Southland works have killed a million sheep, but I am proud that the Pareora freezing works is the first in Canterbury and Otago to pass the mark this season,” said the company’s manager (Mr W. S. Minehan) last night. Mr Minehan said the killing season had another five weeks to go. and there was every prospect that the tally would be a record.
