New Ships For Shaw Savill
(W. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 8. “Since the Common Market has been temporarily resolved, we are now considering building new ships after the completion of the Medic in July,” said the managing-director and a deputy-chairman of the Shaw Savill Line (Mr J. A. MacConchie) who is on a business trip to New Zealand.. At present the company has no ships on the stocks in United Kingdom shipyards as a result of their policy adopted some 18 months ago not to place any further orders because the trade to New Zealand was too uncertain and of a world shipping depression caused through too many ships and not enough cargo, he said.
