Further Rises Yesterday By Secondary Issues
Secondary share issues again made most of the gains recorded in New Zealand business yesterday. Notable among these was a rise of Is 3d to 4s 3d by N\Z. Petroleum. Leaders were mainly steady and variations were nearly all upward.
J. Wattie Canneries, in first business since the shares’ two-day suspension from the quotation list, sold at Friday’s price of 15s 6d. General Foods rose Id to 14s lOd. Holeproof preference fell Is to Ils fid. The recently-floated Marac (Manufacturers’ and Retailers’ Acceptance Corporation) had first business, at 22s 6d (in Auckland) and 23s (Wellington). Overseas shares were very firm, the most notable rise being a Is 6d lift to 12s in Broken Hill South. The total number of issues was 106.
