Mr J. A. Fay, of Auckland, was elected president of the Insurance Institute of New Zealand at its annual conference in Wellington yesterday. The new deputy president is Mr K. S. Mackenzie, of Wellington.—(PA.)
Mr L J. Rathgen, at, present a deputy Commissioner of Inland Revenue, has been appointed chief deputy Commissioner of Inland Revenue. —(P.A.)
Mr W. D. Forsyth, secre-tary-general of the South Pacific Commission, is in WeUihgton on a brief visit for discussions with the Government about the work of the commission.—(PA.) Mr R. G. ‘de Jardine, a senior investigating officer of the Treasury, has been appointed secretary of the Local Authorities Loans Board. He replaces Mr A. K Brown, who is taking up other duties in the Treasury. —(P.A)
Mr W. R. McCallum who has been secretary of the New Zealand Beef Shorthorn Cattle Breeders' Association for 38 years, has retired. He has been succeeded by his son, Mr S. McCallum.—(PA.)
