Blyton Back In Work

The top filly Blyton has resumed training with the Ellerslie trainer M. E. Ritchie. Earlier this season Blyton gained high ranking when she raced prominently in the big three-year-old races.
She was a pre-post favourite for the Great Northern Oaks, to be run at Ellerslie on January 2, but injured herself on the eve of the event and had to be put aside.
Previously she had nine starts for four wins, two seconds. one third and a fourth. Her stake earnings for the season are £6190.
Blyton's successes were in the New Zealand Oaks at Riccarton, the Desert Gold Shakes, at Wellington, the Wellington Guineas, and the Great Northern Guineas, at Ellerslie She was also second to Tatua in the Great Northern Derby and second to Algaion in the New Zealand Derby. The good two-year-old filly Skyline, which was injured at the same time as Blyton. is likely to rejoin Ritchie’s stable next month. From four starts she has gained two wins.
