Steady rain yesterday washed out the opening day's play at Worcester, where the west Indian cricketers were due to begin their first-daas. tour of England. It was one of the five matches held up by rain. Close of play scores in other games w ere:— At Taunton: Somerset 324 for three (G. Atkinson 177. B. Roe 88). Kent 12 for one. At Oxford: Oxford Univensity 61 for one v. Gloucestershire. At Nottingham: Nottinghamshire 133 (P. J. Watts three for 18. P D Watts two for 2). Northamptonshire 12 for one At Manchester (preliminary round knock-out competition): Lancashire 304 for nine (B. Booth 50. K Grieves 57, P Hamer 121) v. Leicestershire.
