Mr Nordmeyer Promises F.O.L. Collaboration

WELLINGTON, May 2.
Closer collaboration between the industrial and political wings of the Labour movement was promised by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nordmeyer) at the Federation of Labour conference today The federation of Labour president (Mr F P Walsh) later said Mr Nordmeyer had told the conference that he would recommend to the Labour p arty caucus the reinstatement of the industrialpolitical collaboration establ.shed by Mr Savage and Mr Fraser
According to Mr Walsh, Mr Nordmeyer also said he would be willing to have free and open discussions on all matters affecting the union movement
Mr Walsh said Mr Nordmeyer and Mr Watt were given *“a wonderful reception” and the conference had pledged itself to co-operate with the Labour Party "in line with Mr Nordmeyer’s address ”
He said Mr Nordmeyer had also referred to the Government’s borrowing policy, and had agreed with Mr Walsh's report that this would even-
tually lead to stagnation. Mr Nordmeyer had pointed out that in the two years the National Government had been tn office it had received £3O milliop more from exoorts than the Labour Government in the whole of its most recent term of office, and that these were factors over whieh no government had control.
The real necessity was to increase productivity, and he would see that any increase was properly shared with wage and salary-earners.
