Message From The Queen
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 25. The Governor-General (Sir Bernard Fergusson) has received the following telegram from the Queen: “The commemoration of Anzac Day once more gives me the opportunity to join with my peoples in the Co .monwealth of Australia and in New Zealand in their observance of this day of glorious memory and I do this with memories of my recent visit among them fresh in my mind. The valour of those who laid down their lives in the cause of freedom will always be an inspiration to us all. Elizabeth R." His Excellency has sent the following reply to Her Majesty. “The Government and people of New Zealand, to whom I have conveyed your Majesty’s Anzac Day message, desire me to thank Yo'ir Majesty for joining with them in their observance of this day. For many thousands of us the day began with the traditional dawn parade. With my humble duty, 1 respectfully tender on behalf of all New Zealanders a renewed assurance of their abiding loyalty, and an assurance that the memory of your Vajeaty’s recent visit to this Dominion will long be treasured by them. Bernard Fergusson. Governor-General.”
