Children And Poisons
Sir, —As the mother of an active toddler I am acutely aware of the dangers con- , nected with child poisoning, .and have noticed that it is ■ the person who no longer has small children who is not so : careful. My child has been (involved in several incidents ! outside our home in which the consequences could have been serious. (1) Very close to swallowing petrol out of a vegetable can. (2) Aspirin left open on a table. (3) Detergents and polishes left hi open cupboard. (4) Garden sprays, etc., left within reach. As ■ this matter is of such vital importance I would like to {suggest that something con.structive be done to ease the {situation. I think the Health Department should publish , several posters and distribute them, for prominent display in doctors’ waiting rooms, Plunket rooms, and public places. A pamphlet should be issued to all homes listing possible dangers.—Yours, etc., MARY C. SCHOFIELD. April 18, 1963.
