W.E.A. CLASSES THIS YEAR

Enrolments “Very Good” Enrolments for Workers’ Educational Association classes this year were described by the secretary of the tutorial class committee (Mr N. A. Parsloe) as very good He said it was too early yet to compare enrolments this year with those of previous years. The association's first classes will be held this evening. but most classes will not begin until next week and the week after. Other classes will start in May and June.

Mr Parsloe said there was the same demand this year for classes which had proved themselves in the past. Practical classes were always very popular, and there had in recent years been increased interest in more serious classes. Another course that had proved very popular was chairmanship and conduct at meetings, Mr Parsloe said.

Languages always drew a good response and the association would like to run more language classes, but the iutors were not available, Mr Parsloe said. Quite a range of languages was offered, and Maori was one that had received much attention. More stages were offered in French than in any other language, he said. Inquiries are now being received by Mr Parsloe for a motor-car owners’ and drivers’ course, which will begin in June. This is a new course, as is a radiation, radio-activity, and nuclear power class, which will begin on May 22. After Asia Week the association will begin a course entitled, "Understanding Asia.” This course will open on May 30.
