St. Margaret’s Old Girls Make Debut

Pillars and wrought-iron screens of gold and white, gilt-framed mirrors and hanging baskets of trailing greenery and pink flowers made an attractive setting in the Winter Garden when 21 former pupils of St. Margaret’s College made their debut at the college Old Girls’ Association’s annual debutante ball last evening. Table decorations and flowers in the Sapphire Room were also in pink and white.

The debutantes were presented to the Bishop of Christchurch (the Right Rev. A. K. Warren). Mrs Warren, and Miss J. Crosher, headmistress of the school and patron of the old girls’ association.

Mrs R. J. Dendle, president of the association, presented the girls, who had been trained by Mrs H. Baird.

Miss Crosher’s gown was of sapphire and silver brocade, with a draped bodice softly folded into the pleated back panel of the full-length skirt.
