FAILED TO WEIGH IN
Reprimand For Rider B. D. Collins, the rider of Captain Hunt, which finished fifth in the Templeton Handicap at Riccarton yesterday, was charged after the race with failing to weigh in. The Canterbury Jockey Club’s judicial committee found the charge proved, but, because Captain Hunt was not among the horses called by the judge, imposed no penalty. Collins was warned that it was his duty in a close finish to make sure whether his mount was among the first five to finish. N. Eastwood, R. J. Skelton and W. D. Skelton were given permission to ride in the Wigram Handicap, a race for apprentice riders. Not enough apprentices were available.
