CLUBS LEAVE ASSOCIATION
Stewart s Gully And Akaroa
Two yacht clubs have withdrawn from the Canterbury Yachting Association. They are the Stewart’s Gully Sailing Club and the Akaroa Boating Club
’Hie Stewart’s Gully club ha* been in recess since last season, when the club « membership was spilt after disagreement over the disqualification of a boat in » olub race. Hie Akaroa dub. which has also catered for rowing, he* not been an active yachting organisation for some time. The president of the Canterbury association (Mr W. H. Beanland). who announced the withdrawal of the clubs last evening, reported to a meeting of delegatee that West Ccxt yachtsmen were considering applying to the eesociation to affiliate, "on the same basis as South Canterbury.*’ Growing fleets of Mothdas* boats had emphasised to West Coast yachtsmen the need for a rescue service, but to be eligible for a Government subsidy they would have to affiliate, Mr Bean-
