ANZAC DAY SERVICE
Remembrance At Dawn
Members of the Australian Imperial Forces’ Association will parade in Cathedral square on Anzac Day and march to the War Memorial in the Cathedral grounds for the dawn service of remembrance. The Anzac dedication will be read by the president of the association (Mr S. J Bromhead). Wreaths placed on the memorial by representatives of the Australian Imperial Forces’ Association and the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association will be dedicated by the president of the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association (Mr A. S. Farrar). Prayers will be led by the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. W. A. Pyatt), and the benediction given by the Bishop ot Christchurch (the Rt. Rev, A. K. Warren).
Music will be played by the Christehu'rcH Salvation Army Band, and tihe buglers will be from the Christchurch West High School Cadet Corps The breakfast reunion will be held after the service. Members of tihe official party will include the Mayor (Mr G. Manning); the Minister of Labour (Mr T. P. Shand), representing the Prime Minister; Mr S. D. Shubart. Australian Government Trade Commissioner in the South Island; Lieutenant-Colonel R J. Moor, representing the commanding officer of the Southern Military District; Group Captain J D. Robins, commanding officer at Wigram: Commander R. M J O’Connor, commanding officer of H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus; and Lieutenant-Commander G. A. Hannan, resident naval officer.
