The hedge along the back of the co’ rse caught fire just before the running of the second leg of the T A.B. double at the Rotorua Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday The horses were about to enter the starting stalls tor the Electric Handicap when the fire began about 20 yards ahead It quickly spread to a pile of hurdles which had been creosoted and they blazed fiercely.
