Rangers, Celtic To Meet In Scottish Cup Final

LONDON, April 14. Rangers and Celtic, Glasgow soccer rivals, will meet in the final of the Scottish Cup on May 4 for the first time since 1928.

In Saturday’s semi-finals Rangers beat Dundee United, 5-2, at Hampden Park, and Celtic defeated Raith Rovers by the same score at Ibrox Park. Between them. Rangers and Celtic have won the trophy 34 times—lB by Celtic and 16 by Rangers. A crowd of over 56,000 saw three goals by J. Millar pave the way for Rangers’ victory over Dundee United. Millar put Rangers two up after 25 minutes. United fought to score twice within five minutes. The hectic spell of scoring continued when Millar added a third goal before half-time.

Celtic dominated the game at Ibrox. although being held to 1-1 at half-time by Raith. Two well-taken penalty kicks gave Celtic a 3-1 lead in the second half.

Spurs Regain Lead In England, the championship race became even more intense when another turn of form left Tottenham Hotspur at the top of division one on goal average over Leicester City. Tottenham, which lost 5-2 at Liverpool on Good Friday, was held to a 1-1 draw at home to Fulham, but Leicester, top of the table before yesterday’s games, went down 0-2 at West Ham.
