M.P.’s TO VISIT CHRISTCHURCH
Three-Day Tour This Week Two Opposition members of Parliament, Mr R. L. Bailey (Heretaiunga) and Sir Basil Arthur (Timairu), will this week visit Christchurch and Akaroa. Accompanied by Mr N. E. Kirk, member of Parliament for Lyttelton, they will visit homes for the aged and factories and address public meetings. On Tuesday, said Mr Kirk, the visiting members of Parliament would visit Langford House, Coronation House, and Windsor House, and would meet the chairman of the Christchurch Aged People’s Welfare Council (Dr. H. R. Donald). In the evening, they would address a meeting at Lyttelton. On Wednesday, the visitors would inspect the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company (N.Z.), Ltd.’s plant and the factory of Millers Worsted Mills, Ltd. They would have lunch with members of the council of t>he Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association. and in the evening would address a meeting in Wools ton..
On Thursday, the members of Parliament would visit the factory of Dunlop (N.Z.), Ltd., and go to Akaroa in the afternoon. They would be shown round Akaroa by a county councillor and would speak at a public meeting in the evening. Mr Bailey and Sir Basil Arthur will leave Christchurch on Friday.
