Big Relay Run For Boys 9 Brigade Anniversary
Two Dwuaand boy numera will cover a dtoance of 1659 miles next month to celebrate the eitfttieth annivenary ot Ibe Eoundmc of *>e Boyw’ Brigade in Gkaagow in October, 1883. Messages of greeMnf and goodwill from toe 12439 members of toe movement in New Zealand and Ita junior reserve, the Lite Boya, will be conveyed by relay* of toe runner* to th* GovernorGeneral (Sir Bernard Ferftuson) in Wellington. There will be four main route* conunencinf at Whanaarei, Gisborne, InveraarffiU, and Hokitika (and one subsidiary from Rotorua), all converging on Wellinffton for toe final ceremony at Government House on May » The run wUI continue day and nigM. The message* will be carried in silver batons surmounted by the Boys’ Brigade crest
Runners will be in group* of three, the bearer—preferably a holder of the Queen's badge—and two escorts. They will cover two or three mile* each.
About 75 mayor* will attend ceremonies in their centre* when toe messages are handed over and toe runner*
