Soccer Nomads’ Win Best Of Holiday Games

Nomads, present leader of the Hurley Shield competition, outshone all other Easter performances from Christchurch senior soccer clubs by overwhelming the national club champion, Northern, of Dunedin, on Saturday.

Assisted by their former Canterbury and South Island representative, P. Rennell, who scored a hat-trick, Nomads accomplished a rare feat in tackling Northern on its own ground and soundly trouncing the Dunedin club, 7-1.

It was, however, at) equally happy Easter tor other Christchurch clubs in therr annual holiday games. Shamrock accounted for Stop Out (Wellington), 11-2. at Riccarton Domain on Saturday; Christchurch Technical 0.8. beet Dunedin Technical 0.8., 5-3, at English Park on Saturday; and Western defeated Seatoun (Wellington i. 4-0, at English Park yesterday. But Numads's victory was the outstanding result for Northern proved itself Last season the outstanding club team in New Zealand by winning the Rotliman’s tournament and being runner-up in f-1 Chatham Cup. Porteous. the Dunedin centre-forward. equalised to make the score one each at half-time, but Christchurch raced away with two goals, through F. Madrussan and C. Chee, within three minutes of the restart. and never looked back.
