TWO ESCAPE FIRE
Petrol Station Blaze

ROTORUA, April 14.
Six business firms were seriously affected by a fire that swept through. A.D. Motors building in Fenton street, Rotorua, about 2.45 o'clock this morning. A petrol station, repair shop and motor-cycle workshop were gutted. No true estimate of the damage was possible today. A man and a youth who were in the service station at the time were trapped by the flames. Mr George Mea r , of 12 Carnot street, suffered minor burns and was treated at the casualty department of Rotorua Hospital. The youth, Warwick Sefton, aged 15, of Lake road, escaped injury, although he had to beat out burning liquid that spattered his clothing after a drum of white spirit exploded.
The fire is believed to have been caused by a leak from a kerosene heater.
The Rotorua Fire Brigade, which sent out four appliances, prevented the fire spreading into adjoining premises.
