It is proposed later to introduce American History. Successful applicants will be encouraged to pursue their individual research interests, and it is intended to make financial provision for microfilming of documents. Research Is planned within the following subjects: Foreign Aid in South-east Asia; economic and political aspects including Australian donor experience; Economic position of Japan in South-east Asia; Regional Trade and Development Problems of Asia; Overseas Investment In Australia; Communism in Asia. Detailed programmes of research will be left for successful applicants to define in agreement with Professor Sir John Crawford, Director of the School, who Is responsible for the supervision and administration of the grant and Professor J.
