More Fountains Wanted

Sir,—A great many would be delighted to see toe fountain restored. It was dismantled and carted away, entirely against the wishes of trie citizens. It wee allowed to be neglected, apart from the untidy mess of bamboo that grew around the edge. But it was always lovely and romantic, even when not playing. One has only to read John Evelyn s diary to know what a great part fountains played in the beautiful gardens on the Continent If they considered that R blocked the long vista down the Archery Lawn, it would fit in beautifully at the for end, giving an added interert there. I have felt aad and vexed all these years, imagining it corroding and disintegrating at the end of some yard. I hope my fears have not been justified.—Yours, etc., WHERE IS MY FOUNTAIN?
