Women's Softball LAST MATCH OF SEASON

Competition Points Superior batting by the Canterbury representative team and lack of match play by the past representatives were the deciding factors in the present team’s win in an interesting game by 13 to 1. The present players fielded well in spite of a few field changes. The highlight of the third innings was a fine double play between L. Parish, T. Lutters and L. Alston. Both pitchers, B. Maklnson and L. Honeyman, produced good form for the present team and in the later innings of the game E. Law played well as catcher. Another player to field well vzas L. Parrish, who also hit a home run, as did E. Law. Top batters for present were N. Beale and E. Law. Many of the past players produced play of a high standard, and it was evident that these players have retired too early from regular play. M. Sklwington fielded well at first base, and combined well with her infielders. W. Timms, R. Lanini, C. O’Byrne, and C. Tennant all fielded alertly and threw accurately. J. Jackson, and later R. Lanini pitched well, the latter gaining the only strike out of the game. J. Jackson was top batter.
