THREE ‘LIVE’ TV SHOWS

Ballet, Song Programmes Channel 3’s first venture into entertainment this year will be the production of three quarter - hour programmes, due for filming this ■ month. The first will be • ballet 'sequence called “Trio uf Dreams" It will comprise three dances done by two Christchurch dancers, John Pass and Yvonne Soeterik. The dances, choreographed by John Pass, set out to capture three contrasting moods. Six dancers from the Sadler’s Wells Opera Company will be featured In the second programme, as yet unnamed. They will present four dances of different types, two of them to jazz themes Singers from the same company will perform in the third programme, to be called “Songs for Lover*.” Anita Kelly and Craig McLeod will sing six numbers from musical shows. The set designed for this programme simulates a penthouse apartment overlooking a city. Channel 3's outside broadcast unit will be used again on Saturday, April 6. For two hour* that afternoon, beginning at 2 pm., the second day -of the Canterbury ana of the New Zealand Horse Society's show jumping at the Addington Showgrounds will be televised.

Return of “Laraatie" Judging by the correspondence and inquiries received at Channel 3, hundreds of viewers will be delighted that the Western “Laramie” is to make a reappearance on April 6. When the first series about life on a Wyoming ranch after the American Civil War—ended in June last year, the station received a “deluge” of mail, according to Mr P C. Nisbet, the programme organiser.

“We even had one roundrobin letter with 45 signatures.” he said. “They all wanted to know when 'Laramie* was coming back. We had then already negotiated to buy a second aerie*. Ever since June we have been getting calls from people wanting to know about it”
