TACTILE TO COMPETE

Match Race At Harold Park (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) SYDNEY, March 29. The New South Wales Trotting Club will arrange a special three-year-old invitation championship of £lOOO over H2 furlongs at Harold Park in the next fortnight. It is intended the race should be a challenge match between the New Zealand pacer Tactile, Blazing Globe and Friendly John. Tactile won the recent Sydney Pacers’ Derby after a sensational smash in the first furlong. Blazing Globe was one of four horses to come down. In Melbourne last week-end he beat Tactile in a heat of the Victoria Derby. New South Wales Trotting Club president, Mr J. Reeves, said tonight: “We think it would be a great drawcard and settle a lot of arguments if we could rematch Tactile, Blazing Globe and FriendlyJohn as well as a few other three-year-olds over the derby distance.’’ Although Tactile was beaten by the New South Wales youngster. Blazing Globe, in the first heat last Saturday night, few people took notice of the defeat. Trainer-driver. D. J. Townley, set Tactile a near-impos-sible task, and it was no surprise to see the colt weaken in the last 100 yards. From barrier one tomorrow night. Townley should have Tactile in a position to dictate his own terms throughout the race. But there is one man in Melbourne who believes that Tactile will be beaten—N Walsh, who is looking after Blazing Globe for the Sydney trainer-driver P. Hall. “Blazing Globe has done exceptionally well since he beat Tactile last week, and there is no reason whv he cannot do it again.” Walsh said last night.
