DAMAGE CHARGE
Man Remanded For Month fNJg. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Mar 29 John Christopher Moore, aged 38. a workman, who was charged in the Magistrate's Court today with wilfully damaging six statues. the property of the New Zealand Government, was remanded under section 37 of the Mental Health Act till April 26 Heavily-Luilt, shirtless, and wearing a blue jersey and blue jeans. Moore, a native of England, was in Cour: for only a few minutes. Sergeant R A Knight applied tor a remand Mr J A Wick*. S.St, said he only knew what he had read about the incident in the newspapers It might be that the man did not like politicians or he might have disapproved of the quality of the sculptures. Moore elected trial by jury and added: "I think I would rather be tried by the people.”
