TROTTING LORDSHIP’S SPRINT PROSPECTS GOOD

Grouse Might Be Hardest To Beat Today

Lordship will be a popular fancy when he attempts to gain his eighth win for the season in the Bryndwr Handicap on the first day of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s Easter meeting at Addington today.

Lordship showed that he had freshened up when he beat all but Grouse in the free-for-all at the recent Addington trials. He is certain to show sharp improvement as a result of that race and from 12 yards in this race he should be too good for most of his rivals.

Grouse might offer most opposition to Lordship. She was a good third in the race won by Samantha at Hutt Park on February 27 at her most recent start. She looks well placed on the front and if allowed to make her own rules in the lead, she will be hard to head.

Cairnbrae and Gildirect will be bracketed with Grouse. Bath have raced well enough thia season to be considered as sound prospects in this field. Samantha, on 12 yards, won twice ait Hutt Park at her last two starts. She showed that ste had trained satisfactorily since then when she finished second to Fox Able at the Methven trials on Tuesday. She looked to have

plenty in reserve at the finish. Master Allan will start in this race instead of the Rattray Handicap. He disappointed a little at Auckland recently, but did not receive much luck in the running. He should be the pick of the others on the limit. Scottish Light paced a fair race at the Methven trials on Tuesday. He looks well and one of his better efforts

would give him a chance of finishing in the money. Seafield Lad is coming to hand well for W. R. Butt. He has been off the scene since lasi May and might still need a race to bring him to his peak. He will be bracketed with Axis, the winner of this race 12 months ago. The double will be run on the Rattray Handicap and the Rothschild Handicap. Fine weather is forecast and the track will be fast
