FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation.—A weak cold front has become almost stationary over northern areas of the North Island and an extensive anti-cyclone is advancing on to the South Island from the west. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Light to moderate variable winds, fine, except for scattered morning fog patches; cold night, moderate day temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy. Marlborough, Nelson, Buller and Westland.— Moderate southerlies on the Kaikoura coast and about the Sounds, elsewhere winds light and variable; partly cloudy, with moderate temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy.
