INJURED IN 1954
Watersider Dies (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 28. A man who became paralysed from the waist down after falling 40 feet on the freighter Port Fairy at Auckland in 1954, died in the Cornwall Hospital today. He was Robert Arnold Harris, aged 39, a cargo worker, who had spent most of the time since the accident in hospitals.
About a year after his accident Mr Harris gained about £18,500 in compensation for the injuries he had received and used the money to make two pilgrimages to Lourdes, hoping for a miracle cure.
He spent about three months at Lourdes in 1956 and returned again in May, 1961. He arrived back in New Zealand last November.
