Results of the first round of a three-night match-point match held by the Christchurch Contract Bridge Club were:— Open North-south: Mrs W. Cowlishaw and Sir Joseph Ward 1, Mrs K. J. Cuttie and H. Pickering 2, Miss E. Edmonds and Mrs M. L. Shand 3. East-west: Dr. J. P. McQuilkin and M. L. Shand 1. Mrs H. Smart and Miss N. Spillane 2. Mrs G. and B. Morgan 3. Handicap North-south: Miss Edmonds and Mrs Shand 1, Mrs Cowlishaw and Sir Joseph Ward 2. Mrs D. A. Ballantyne and Mias N. Hartley X East-west: Dr. McQuilkin and M. L. Shand 1. Mrs W. McLennan and S. Frew 2, Mrs Morgan and Mrs Tocker Winners at the members' afternoon duplicate were Mrs Ballantyne and Mrs Morgan, Mrs Eckersley and Mrs Hopkin*.
