Insurance Shares Lead Sharemarket Rise
Led by the big insurance issues, the market yesterday marked up prices for many New Zealand shares. Only one New Zealand share fell, while no fewer than 18 issues, were firmer.
New Zealand Insurance were 3d up at 28s. South British Insurance rose a further Is to 58s 6d, making a rise of Is 9d so far this week. Australian shares were weaker and most of the leading issues lost ground. The number of local and overseas issues traded totalled 93, compared with 79 the previous week.
