DAMAGE NOT SERIOUS
Endeavour’s Dented Plates (NZ. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 28. The Antarctic supply ship Endeavour will leave the Devonport dry-dock tomorrow after having her icepropellers replaced with normal sea-going screws. While in dock the ship’s bottom was scraped and painted, and a close inspection was made of her plates, some of which were dented during her first trip to McMurdo Sound when ice conditions were particularly severe.
It was found that less damage had been done than was suspected.
The Endeavour will go into dock again in July for repairs to the dented plates. Her electrical wiring will also be checked.
